Our National Anthems (Plural)

Our National Anthems (Plural)

Tuesday, February 9 | 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm | add to Google Calendar

This is a Zoom program. To register, click here.

We’ll be learning some things about the song we know as our official national anthem — and listening to many other songs that might have become our national anthem:  some of which served as unofficial anthems at different points in our history; some that were anthems for particular regions or communities; and some which are still political, cultural, personal, or even spiritual anthems for some Americans.   Songs from Colonial America, songs from the 1860s, and songs from the 1960s — and from today.

Presented by Music Historian Robert Cohen
