Among their other functions, the kidneys and liver are two of the main detox organs of the body and it is critical that they function at optimal levels to prevent toxins from building up and causing illness. Certain foods have been shown to improve their function, prevent against fat buildup, and decrease oxidative stress and inflammation. In addition, maintaining balance of the doshas – Pitta, Vata, Kapha – is also critical as they impact organ function.
