Adult Book Discussion Group

Adult Book Discussion Group

Tuesday, October 18 | 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm | add to Google Calendar

This month we will discuss “The Lost City of the Monkey God, a True Story” by Douglas Preston.

This discussion will take place in person in the Yeager Community Room located on the lower level of the Library.  It will be facilitated by Mary Hogan Camp.

A message from our new Book Discussion Leader:

My name is Mary Hogan Camp and I am the newly appointed leader of the Bronxville Public Library Book Group. Originally from Chicago, I moved to Bronxville from London more than eight years ago, with my family, and live in Cedar Knolls. I currently work in NYC at The Morgan Library and Museum in the department of Education where I supervise the docent program. I hold a PhD in Art History from the Courtauld Institute in London, as well as a Masters in Interdisciplinary Art from Columbia College in Chicago. I received a BA from the University of Toronto in English Literature. I am a passionate supporter of lifelong learning and I have focused my career on adult education in both the college setting as well as in the community.

I joined my first book club in Chicago at the age of 12. It was sponsored by the Great Books Foundation (a program developed at the University of Chicago by Mortimer Adler many years ago), and it promoted the shared inquiry method for talking about what we were reading. I was “hooked” and began a lifelong engagement with literature, of all kinds, through reading and discussion. I look forward to continuing that engagement, and that conversation, with many of you here in Bronxville.
