West Side Stories (Upper west Side)

Explore the rich architecture and history of the area surrounding Columbus Circle. During this slideshow and lecture, you will learn about the site of the first Jewish congregation in North America, the origins of Art Deco, and more.  Historian, Marty Schneit will reveal local secrets, stories, and scandals that will make audience members’ jaws drop in amazement.   Marty will discuss sites associated with Mae West, Joe DiMaggio, Marilyn Monroe, Rudolph Valentino, Charlie Chaplin and James Dean. You will virtually visit the school that Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the Atomic Bomb, attended and sites where two classic movies were filmed.

 Marty Schneit, a born and bred New Yorker, is a Historian and licensed New York City Tour guide.  He has lectured at New York Public Library, National Council of Jewish Women and numerous other places.  He typifies pride and passion for the City of New York.
